We conducted a community medical camp near Kokunnewa village along the Anuradhapura Mannarama Road, serving residents from nearby villages including Kokawiddawewa and Ranorawa.

The camp was organized to support rural communities where access to healthcare is limited, especially for elderly individuals who often face financial and transportation challenges.

Project Overview

Most attendees were elderly farming families with limited income who often delay or avoid seeking medical treatment due to cost.

We initially planned to support around 75 individuals. However, due to strong community response, approximately 110 people arrived seeking medical assistance.

Project Highlights

The event began in the afternoon and was ceremonially opened by a Venerable monk, who led the gathering in observing pansil (the Five Precepts) and offered blessings.

Dr. Shihara Kareem of the Sri Lanka Air Force, together with her assistants, provided medical consultations throughout the afternoon and evening, continuing until around 6:00 PM.

Impact

  • Approximately 110 people received medical consultation

  • Access to essential healthcare was provided to rural elderly communities

  • Patients with ongoing conditions were identified and guided for further treatment

  • Several individuals referred for further treatment at Anuradhapura Hospital

Project Support

This project was supported through contributions from donors, with a planned budget of approximately USD 1,000 for medical services and related expenses.
